The hypersitional right: myths that get programmed
I The spell of the meme that becomes law
In 1994, the theorists of the CCRU (Cybernetic Culture Research Unit) coined hypersition:
“a fiction that alters reality by spreading”.
Thirty years later, the hypersitional right rules the boards of 4chan, X, Telegram and the corridors of electoral campaigns.
Its premise: make viral narratives—a mix of myth, shit-posting and big data—until the world turns to confirm the plot.
It is not after Truth; it codes effects.
II Manual of hypersitional forging
-
01
Minimal narrative, maximum impact
→ “They are coming for your kids.” Seven words, an infinity of mental frames. -
02
Glitch-parodic aesthetics
→ Pepe the Frog, Wojak, NPC: caricatures that inoculate doctrine without sounding like a sermon. -
03
Gamifying the propaganda
→ Symbolic rewards (karma, likes, “based”) for spreading extreme versions, building a network of micro-operators. -
04
Alignment with the algorithms
→ The memes are tuned to the platform's metric: retention time, emotional tone, the timing of news peaks. -
05
Political feedback
→ When a politician repeats the meme, the fiction is institutionalised; the TV clip validates the original conspiracy.
The cycle closes: lore → meme → trend → public policy.
III Emblematic cases
-
Kekistan & the MAGAverse
A neon-green parody republic jumps from /pol/ to the 2016 rallies; it ends up printed on official T-shirts. -
“Great Replacement” 2.0
A French theory mutates into a 30 s TikTok format; it drives anti-immigration legislation in central Europe. -
“Tradwife”
A vintage Instagram aesthetic recalibrated as a utopia of tech-friendly female submission; the anti-feminist discourse dresses up as lifestyle.
IV Algorithm of contagion

Profitability is key: themed NFTs, premium podcasts, super-chats—the myth funds itself.
V Friction with acceleration
- Land-core sees hypersition as the lubricant of the meltdown: every polarising myth accelerates the democratic collapse.
- NRx uses it tactically: sow stories that justify an elitist exit (“the masses are NPCs, get out of the system”).
- Accelerationist left attempts counter-hypersition (eco-futurist memes), but its moral tone often lacks the “shit-post” irreverence that feeds the algorithm.
VI Immune defence
-
Public metadata
Tag a meme's genealogy (origin IP, first wallets) to expose the engineering. -
Fiction against fiction
Design emancipatory, playful lore that competes in the arena of desire, not only in fact-checking. -
Economy of dismantling
Reversion the iconography (antifascist Pepe, feminist NPC) and monetise it; cut off the memetic right's financial oxygen. -
Slow media pockets
Create zones of latency—newsletters, curated forums—where the tempo blocks the reflex reaction that feeds the viral fire.
VII Coda: programming the storm or the shelter
Political hypertext has become reality's graphics engine: pixel by pixel, timeline by timeline.
The hypersitional right proves that myth is the hardware of power; it compiles into GIFs and ends up dictating decrees.
The question is not whether to fight with “cold data”, but which alternative fictions to write, what new desire to inject into the layers of the network.
Because, in 2025, whoever controls the pipeline governs:
idea → meme → market → Senate.
If the algorithm is inevitable, let us hack it—before the programmed fiction turns us into supporting characters in our own polis.
