Reverse-engineering miracles: taking the sacred apart with deepfakes
I The wonder as hackable hardware
For centuries the Church armoured its miracles with canonical bureaucracy: witnesses, medical experts, nihil obstat.
In 2026 all it takes is a text-to-video model and a prompt:
"Virgin of Guadalupe weeping oil, close-up, 4K, Caravaggio style"
The clip comes out perfect; social media lights up with viral faith.
Reverse-engineering miracles means inverting the process: expose the gears of the wonder, publish the BOM [Bill of Materials] and turn the aura into a GPL-B16 kit.
