Tianxia firmware: refining the planet as a field of distributed harmony
I The firmware of the Superhuman Heaven
In classical China, Tianxia 天下 means “all that lies under heaven” – a relational sphere where nothing exists in isolation.
The philosopher Yuk Hui reprograms it: tianxia is not empire but a technical principle of coexistence: every artefact must negotiate with the whole, not atomise it.

In 2026 the planet runs on distributed systems (DAG ledgers, satellite meshes, model federations).
The proposal: install a “tianxia firmware” that forces every node to record, with each operation, its harmonic impact – latency, carbon, social anxiety.
Without passing this harmony checksum the packet is dropped: the Confucian cloud kick-bans the dissonant transaction.
